About Shanahan Tax

I’m Shelley Shanahan, President of Shanahan Tax Accounting Services, Inc. I’m a proud St. Petersburg, Florida native. I was raised here, and am honored to call St. Pete home. As my tax and accounting career progressed, I eventually decided it was time that I bring my skills and services to the people and local businesses in the beautiful Sunshine City and Pinellas County.

A little bit about my education and career. I have worked in accounting since graduating from high school. When I decided to return to college to complete my bachelors degree, choosing University of South Florida, St Petersburg took only a split second to decide.

My business experience encompassed various management and accounting roles for small businesses. Those positions required preparation and analysis of internal and external financial statements, as well as payroll and sales tax returns. As a business manager my expertise was focused in law firms, real estate rentals and investment, other service industries and manufacturing.

I earned a 5 year Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, another Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with focuses in Taxation, Forensic Accounting and International Finance, all from the University of South Florida, St Petersburg.

Even though I was qualified to pursue a CPA designation, I chose to get licensed through the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent, to further my specialization in taxation.

I now have 15+ years of public tax preparation experience for both businesses and individuals, in Federal and State tax returns across multiple states in the United States. I started my public tax career as an employee, then became an independent contractor for a Pinellas County firm with a national client base. Eventually, I became a partner of the firm. After two years as a partner of that successful, growing firm, I decided to move my life back to the city I was raised in, so in September 2018 I started Shanahan Tax Accounting Services, Inc.

Happy to be HOME again full-time, I welcome working with Pinellas County service oriented businesses and individuals that want the personal touch of a dedicated, caring professional on their side for all their tax needs.
